AVCA national championship tourney draws rave reviews

(May 2, 2012) – It was all fun in the sun at the inaugural AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships in Gulf Shores, AL, a landmark event bringing together elite competition from the collegiate sand volleyball scene to anoint both a Pairs Champion and a Team Champion. The tournament would serve as the capstone to the first-ever collegiate sand volleyball season, a season which saw 15 varsity programs from around the country participate, with more to come in subsequent years. Competition took place on the beautiful white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, where five newly constructed courts were built especially for hosting the championship. Board for 2011 season is elected

(Nov. 29, 2010) - The Gulf Coast Region's commissioner has announced the results of recent board elections:

It is with great pleasure that the region announces the Board of Directors for the 2010/2011 club season. Many thanks for those who nominated candidates, the many who voted on these nominations and for those candidates who accepted their nomination.

We have a great region in the family of USA Volleyball regions. The reason, our quality leadership at the club director positions, those board members who so willingly give their time, and the officials division leaders who teach and instruct the region’s membership in the rules of the game.

I am forever grateful to each and every one of you for the dedicated effort you provide the families in your community. Your insight, your time and your faithfulness to this great sport enable many members to connect not only to your club but to the region, USA Volleyball and volleyball.

Voting results

Billy Eubank was voted in for a fourth term – BOD position #2. Melissa Wolters was voted in for a first term – BOD position #7. Sharon Mosley was appointed to serve the remaining two years of Jennie Belarmino's term (Jennie resigned in June 2010 to accept a collegiate head coaching position in West Virginia).
